Neighbourhood Street Sale

Danforth Gardens Neighbourhood Association is inviting all neighbours to join a community wide street sale. Set up on your own driveway and sell your own stuff at your own garage sale. Do it on Saturday May 28, 2016 and take advantage of the extra exposure that a group sale gets and get to know your neighbours and our association by being out on the street. No need to register but if you want to contact us and let us know you will be joining or if you have questions email us at info@danforthgardens.ca.  We encourage you to let your neighbours know about this event and invite them to participate.

We will be advertising the sale so if you want to let us know what you will be selling and your address we can advertise that for you otherwise you can just set up and sell your stuff.  We’ll have sign all around the area directing people to our neighbourhood so they will find you either way.  There is no cost to you to participate and you keep all the money you make; we are just coordinating a community event to bring us together and out on the street.

We are suggesting to run the sale from 9:00am – 2:00pm but you are welcome to set your own hours.  If you want to help out with the overall sale or connect with our neighbourhood association email us at info@danforthgardens.ca or join our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/DanforthGardens/.

Community Meeting

Come join in the celebration of community.  Meet your neighbour next door, across the street or from the next block.  It’s the perfect day to say thanks for being a great neighbour.

The principal aim of Danforth Gardens Neighbourhood Association is to build better relationships with the people who live around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable.

We have ideas … an Earth Day Neighbourhood Clean Up … a Community Garage Sale … or …
It’s your neighbourhood.  You have a say on how to care for it.

Join us on April 3, 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Albert Campbell Library to learn more.

Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) – February 2016 Minutes

You may not be aware that the community and the police have a close connection and communication through the Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).

This committee is comprised of local citizens, private businesses, BIAs, neighbourhood associations, social service agencies and the like, working with 41 Division to keep up to date on community happenings and issues. Danforth Gardens Neighbourhood Association (DGNA) has a representative at these monthly meetings.

The meetings take place on the last Monday of each month generally at McGregor Park Community Centre unless otherwise posted from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  Everyone is welcomed to join in the meetings. After three meetings, you may apply to become a registered CPLC member.

The Police and the Community need to work together to ensure the safety of our families, homes and properties, to improve communication.  The following is the first in an ongoing series of Minutes from the monthly CPLC meetings.

Please find below the minutes for the most recent meeting held in February 2016:

Getting started: Let’s grow together

If you’re reading this, chances are you live in the neighbourhood (or maybe you’re thinking of moving here) and you want to see what we’re all about! Well first of all: welcome! We’re very happy to have you.

The DGNA has been formed to bring neighbours together to organize, socialize, run events and improve our community. This site contains information on those community events, as well as helpful links for those looking for support or services in the area. As we move forward, we’ll continue to post more information here but you can also sign up for our newsletter if you’re interested in the latest news.

Before you go, don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter and then c’mon over to our Facebook group and say, “Hi!”

Thanks for stopping by, and looking forward to seeing you at our next community event!
